COVID-19 Protocols

45 On Eat Street has been built around a desire to serve the community. It is in the very challenging time, that we need to stand together and support each other more than ever. 45 is still the place to #MeetEatRepeat – we are just doing business a little differently to ensure we are taking the utmost care to ensure the safety of you, your loved ones and our team.
We have implemented the following health and safety measures to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19, and comply with the requirements issued by the South African Government relating to the opening of restaurants under lockdown level 3.

The 45 Dining Experience:
Touch-free, foot-operated hand sanitiser is available at the entrance to the restaurant.
Each table has hand sanitizer for guests.
Managers/Waiters/Barmen will always be wearing face masks, covering their nose and mouth, as per WHO recommendations.
Managers/Waiters/Barmen will always be wearing black surgical disposable gloves which will be changed every hour.
All guests will be temperature checked upon arrival, with details recorded on a register.
Certain tables are unavailable for seating and tables will be sufficiently spread out to ensure required social distancing.
QR codes are available on all tables for guests to scan to view the menu on their cell phones, in order to reduce touchpoints. If a menu is requested by a guest, it will be comprehensively sanitized after each use. Our menu sanitizing station is visible to our guests.
Cutlery, salt and pepper, toothpick, disposable napkin, and sanitizer wipes will be made available in a sealed package for guests to open themselves and will only be issued once the guest has ordered a meal.
No alcohol may be served.
A cleaner will be stationed in our restroom area to sanitize surfaces after any guest has used the area.
Our restrooms will have hand sanitizer and paper towels available for guest use.
Cashless and contactless payment options will be available and encouraged.
Chairs and tables and high contact items, such as credit card machines, will be sanitized after each guest.
Our kiddies play area will be accessible for the safe, supervised use of our little guests, but kiddies toys and a childminder will not be available during this time.

45 Operational Protocol:
All staff are temperature checked upon arrival at work each day and provided with a dated sticker to confirm this. A daily register is kept.
Any suppliers or delivery personnel have their temperature checked and recorded and are required to wear a face mask and sanitise upon entry to the premises.
All back of house (BOH) and kitchen staff are required to wear face masks, at all times, covering nose and mouth, as per WHO recommendations.
All BOH staff wear disposable gloves which are changed every hour.
BOH staff and workstations will always be 1.5 meters, or more, apart from each other and continuously monitored.
Sanitizer spray bottles and surface cleaner spray bottles are available in every section of the kitchen.
A timer/alarm in the kitchen is set for every 20mins for all staff to wash and sanitize their hands.
A sanitizer station has been set up in the scullery to sanitize and polish cutlery for packaging.
All kitchen surfaces and equipment are disinfected with Medisure solution at the end of each service.
All surfaces in the restaurant are wiped down daily with sanitiser and, as an additional measure, are sanitised daily by means of a fogger at the end of service.
The restaurant is deep-cleaned / sanitised once a week by a specialist company with food-safe, hospital-grade disinfectant.
Our staff are continuously educated on the importance of hygiene and social distancing.

We are here for the community and will continue to support our team and small business suppliers over this time. We are thrilled that our doors are open and there’s nothing quite like good food to lift the spirits!
